Accessibility commitment
In plain English
Care infrastructure should work for everyone. SYOM is built to WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards across our customer-facing surfaces. If anything doesn't work for you, we want to know — and fix it.
1.Our commitment
Repair and alteration shouldn't be gated by interface. We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
SYOM is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards.
Our target conformance level is WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the international standard for accessible web content, and the baseline expected under the EU European Accessibility Act (EAA, effective June 2025).
2.Scope
This statement covers all our customer-facing surfaces.
This accessibility statement applies to:
- The SYOM website (syom.io)
- The SYOM partner portal (partners.syom.io)
- Embedded booking surfaces on partner brand websites
- The SYOM mobile application (iOS and Android)
3.What we've built in
Concrete accessibility features already in place.
- Semantic HTML — proper heading structure, landmarks, and form labels for screen readers.
- Keyboard navigation — every interactive element is reachable and usable with keyboard alone.
- Focus indicators — visible focus states on all interactive elements.
- Colour contrast — text contrast meets WCAG 2.1 AA minimums (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text).
- Resizable text — content remains legible and usable when text is resized up to 200%.
- Motion preferences — animations respect
prefers-reduced-motionfor users who need it. - Form errors — error messages are announced to assistive technology and linked to the relevant field.
- Alt text — meaningful descriptions for images that convey information.
4.What's not perfect yet
An honest list — because pretending compliance is worse than naming gaps.
We don't claim full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance everywhere. Here's where we know we fall short, and where we're working:
- Legacy PDF documents. Some downloadable PDFs (older invoices, archived policy versions) aren't tagged for screen readers. We're moving everything new to web-native formats and retiring PDFs where we can.
- Third-party components. Embedded payment forms and certain third-party widgets meet a different standard than our own surfaces. We test alternatives regularly and switch when something better exists.
- Mobile app. Our app is in active development. Full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance is a launch requirement, not a post-launch goal — but until V1 ships, we recommend the website for the most accessible experience.
In practice
5.Testing & review
How we keep this real, not theoretical.
We assess accessibility through:
- Automated testing during development (axe-core, Lighthouse)
- Manual keyboard navigation testing
- Screen reader testing (NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
- Colour contrast verification
- Regular accessibility reviews by qualified team members
- External audit (planned annually, starting V1 launch + 6 months)
6.Reporting an issue
If something doesn't work for you, tell us — we treat accessibility feedback as high-priority bugs.
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on any SYOM surface, please contact us:
Email: accessibility@syom.io
Response time: Within 5 business days
Fix target: Critical accessibility blockers within 30 days; lower-severity issues planned and prioritised in our backlog.
When you report an issue, it helps us to know: the page or feature where you encountered the problem, what you were trying to do, what assistive technology you were using (if any), and what happened.
7.Enforcement & escalation
If we don't respond satisfactorily, you have recourse.
The EU European Accessibility Act (EAA) provides enforcement mechanisms for accessibility compliance. If you're not satisfied with our response to an accessibility complaint, you can contact the relevant national enforcement authority in your country.
In Denmark: Digitaliseringsstyrelsen (Danish Agency for Digital Government) handles digital accessibility enforcement.
8.This statement
Self-assessed, dated, and reviewed at least annually.
This statement is based on a self-assessment by SYOM, conducted May 2026. We review and update this statement at least annually, or when significant changes are made to the platform.
